Meet the Teacher

I grew up in a small farming community in the Willamette Valley and moved to Newport after graduating high school. While here I met my husband and we eventually moved to Hesston, Kansas to attend college. After graduating, we lived in Corvallis where my husband began work as a Nurse. Just before welcoming our daughter Maggie in 2010, we moved back to Newport where we lived on a sailboat until after the birth of our son Garrett in 2013. We bought a house and settled close to the Nye Beach area where we enrolled Maggie in preschool at Mouse Factory for the 2014/15 school year. Liam, our youngest, joined the family in the Spring of 2015 and in 2016 we made our way back to Mouse Factory with Garrett. During that time, I joined the Board and then took over as Teacher for the 2016/17 school year and haven't left since.

My philosophy is that children learn best when they are in a positive and fun environment and that they all learn at their own pace. My job is to teach them that school is a safe place, that learning is fun and that communication is one of the most important tools they will have. My hobbies are vast, when I have time for them they include: camping, backpacking, bike packing, running, traveling, photography, painting, soccer and cooking.
