Recent Fire

Thursday evening I was alerted to a fire at the Presbyterian Church. Living nearby, my husband and I chose to walk over to investigate. Sure enough there was a fire but luckily the Newport Fire Department was able to quickly take control. All of the damage was towards to North Western area of the building and is not too extensive considering how bad it could have been. The Church has always been a very supportive landlord not only to Mouse Factory but Habitat for Humanity and the Food Pantry so I think we are all very thankful damage was minimal. Right now the fire is being investigated and is considered arson...once we know more I will share the information with all of you. I’m not sure if there was intent or if the cause was possibly due to a homeless camp. School is still on for Monday and the smoke smell has been aired out of the building.
