September - Week 2 - The Letter A

Now that the children seem a bit more comfortable in the classroom, we will begin to focus on more of the preschool curriculum and spend more time doing "carpet time".  This week we began Zoophonics and introduced the letter A for Alligator, went through our A word-tub and discovered which students had the letter A in their name.

Everyone has been doing well during story time and at the tables during activities/craft time. We worked with glue sticks this week, making an Alligator A. We used tweezers to count pom-pom's which helps us practice counting as well as build fine motor skills. By Thursday, everyone was pretty tired so we spent some calm down time at the tables and made bracelets --again a great fine motor skill activity -- with pipe cleaners and beads! The kids had fun getting creative and making something to take home. Overall, the kids have been getting along great and have been having a great time getting to know one another and playing on the playground.
